Wildlife
You don't need to venture far from the Cottage to see wildlife.
Regular visitors into the garden or surrounding fields include:
· Hares
· Butterflies
· Roe Deer
· Hawks
· Buzzards
· Skylarks
· Heron
Nocturnal visitors are:
· Bats
· Barn Owls
· Tawny Owls
Every year one or more baby hares can be found in the garden.
During the night owls call in the trees nearby, while bats circle
under the trees feeding on insects
In the garden are many bird species that were once common
everywhere including sparrows, blue tits, great tits, wrens, yellow
hammers and a variety of finches.
Pheasant wander the roads and come into the garden. Keep an
eye out for them when driving they can be a bit erratic.
We have a bat detector which allows you to hear the ultrasonic
squeaks from bats. Most species of bat use a different
frequency to hunt for insects.
